Mike serves Application Development & Program Management professionals. He leads a team of analysts that covers a wide range of technologies including development and integration tools, application platforms, SOA, BPM, Web services, and also practices and processes for managing architecture and development. In his 10 years with Forrester, Mike has covered several of the topics handled by this team, and today contributes to Forrester's coverage of information-as-a-service and SOA.
Mike came to Forrester through its acquisition of Giga Information Group. In his 22 years of hands-on experience with IT before joining Giga, Mike spent 10 years as an executive in the software development tools business. Mike led product management, product engineering, and later a product business unit at Intersolv, a leading global vendor of application development tools. There he led the creation and launch of multiple application development and software modeling products, and also before that in seven years at LBMS. Prior to LBMS Mike spent 10 years in IT in various positions including project manager, systems analyst, DBA, and programmer.Mike has spoken at numerous industry conferences, and he has chaired Forrester's IT Forum (GigaWorld) five years running, including 2007. He is quoted frequently in industry publications, such as Computerworld, eWEEK, InfoWorld, InformationWeek, and Internet Week, as well as in The Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, and The New York Times.
Mike earned a B.A. in physics from Rice University, where he also began his work in programming in FORTAN and Algol, including a senior project to do mathematical modeling of complex physical systems using nonlinear partial differential equations.
