Only 16% Of CMOs Lead Their Firm’s Digital Transformation
Too few CMOs are significantly involved in digital transformation: According to new research by Forrester, less than a quarter of CMOs are directly responsible for leading their firm’s digital transformation strategy and only 16% are leading its execution.
This is likely attributed to the CMO’s high turnover, which presents the challenge of delivering short-term customer satisfaction and long-term digital transformation simultaneously. CMOs are also challenged with competing priorities and employee recruitment and retention.
To be successful in driving digital transformation, Forrester’s Thomas Husson believes CMOs must turn their company’s brand values into a call to action for employees and work closely with HR and IT to manifest the brand for employees and prospects. This will alleviate the challenges of employee recruitment and retention and allow for greater focus on digital transformation.
